I have to admit, since I had My Baby, I go everywhere lugging this BAC (Big-Ass Camera). I find that I enjoy taking photos of sceneries or surrounding things more than taking photos of people. Portraits are not my specialty. Or maybe I just don’t have the love for portrait photography. So, the photos in this blog post is explanatory as itself.
MidValley Megamall’s Chinese New Year theme was “Lantern”. I’m not sure if this is the official theme but the guy at the concierge told me that’s what they’re calling the decorations this year, so I’ll take that as a theme then. The hanging lanterns at the Center Court, North Court and South Court are mostly made of giant red decorative papers that covers up the smaller rounded yellow lanterns. But since they’re using light bulbs for the lanterns, there’s no issue of the papers going up in flames here. I thought MidValley Megamall had very minimal decorations for Chinese New Year and I’m not much of a fan of the booth’s rooftops. They look “naked” and weird from a bird’s-eye view.
Oh, the flowers at the Center Court are real flowers my friends. So, don’t go pluck it or the guard will yell at you. I supposed that’s why the decorations here are not grand. Live fresh flowers must cost a bomb!
I still think my favourite Chinese New Year decoration is the ones at Sunway Pyramid. I’m in love with the waterfall there.
The Gardens mall also has minimal decorations for the Chinese New Year. Just like MidValley Megamall, the guy at the concierge told me there’s no specific name for the theme except that it’s more of a “Baba & Nyonya” style. Something that looks like when the chinese people are preparing to get married, he said.
I think I prefer the oblong lanterns in comparison to the paper lanterns at MidValley Megamall. It looked more unique that the lanterns are being put in oblong cages as well. However, the decorations here are very minimal as well and I don’t see anything like a Baba & Nyonya style or Chinese wedding preparation theme so I took very little photos here. I also had to combine both photos of MidValley Megamall and The Gardens decorations photos for this blog post.
What do you think guys? Are the decorations nice here or are other malls better than this?
