1 Utama – Christmas Decorations 2011

I haven’t had many chances to get on with my Christmas photo hunt. :-| I wish I’m a millionaire so I don’t have to do dozens of work like a madwoman and will be able to go out whenever and wherever I want. I have seen a few Christmas deco photos and blog posts by other bloggers and I definitely need to catch up! :-D So this is my second Christmas deco post which is on 1 Utama Shopping Centre. The Christmas theme at 1 Utama this year is “Winter Waterland”.

1 Utama Christmas Decorations 2011

I didn’t like the theme very much. I don’t see how the fishes and clams (I assume these big fat girl-like things are clams) hanging in the air have anything to do with Christmas. There are no Chrismassy feeling when I saw the decorations, unlike how I felt when I was at my first mall photo hunt. Felt a little disappointed but luckily I will be visiting more malls so hoping to see better decorations elsewhere! ;-)

I have read some bloggers said that the underwater theme at 1 Utama is beautiful. I guess the old adage is true – “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.

Underwater weeds and flying clams

I am a little confused as to why the clams wear helmets. OK, I know it’s not exactly a helmet but the whole head-gear thingy reminds me of Abu Bakar Elah, like seriously! I did not like the hanging flying clams either. I can’t seem to point the main problem here but I just don’t like the clams at all. I am haunted by their tiny beady eyes and big fat clam skirts.

However, I do like the pearly oyster handbags they hold. I like the sparkly gemstones on the clams. I also like the huge oyster bed-like near the stage. If it was a real bed, I think I would like to have one. Isn’t it cool to sleep in a giant oyster bed?

Pearly oyster handbags & jewelries!

How about you? Do you like the “Splashing Over The Big Blue” decorations at 1 Utama this year?

Yeah I also can't find the connection between fishes, clams and underwater with Christmas! Prefer last year's decor!

But I have to say even though I don't agree with the underwater theme, I still find that they are quite creative with the materials they have. And quite nicely done too. But it just didn't give me the Christmas feeling that's all :)
