#MSS2011 Let’s Get It Started! – Day 1 (Part 1)

Finally, the day has arrived where bloggers from three countries will get together for a trip of a lifetime -  5 days and 4 nights to be exact! Many of the Top30 bloggers have been counting down to this day since almost a fortnight ago on their Twitter and Facebook. The excitement was infectious and just like the other 29 bloggers, I too could not seem to contain my elation. I imagine our insides is like The Cube waiting to burst open and learn everything with our senses.

With very little sleep the night before and a crazy Wednesday morning, my own MySelangorStory (or better known as MSS) began at 3.30pm from a town called Kajang.

After Dad dropped me off at the Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie lobby, I was told by the concierge that The Mix (where we’re supposed to gather) is actually further in than where my Dad dropped me off. One look at my luggage though, the pretty lady at the concierge told the hotel driver to drive me to The Mix. Although it was just a 5-minute walk to The Mix, their warm hospitality is definitely worth mentioning.

I knew this was going to be a colorful journey when the first person I met at The Mix was my high school junior. *Such a small world*

The first face I saw at the top floor of The Mix was Zaid, followed by Tian Chad, Feeq, Jard and some other new faces. Trying to brave it and make small talks with other bloggers I didn’t know (which quiet-lil-ol-me don’t usually do), I found out that one of the Top 25 bloggers (it seems the other 5 bloggers withdrew from the competition), Fie was my high school senior. So yeah, it’s official, the world is small and the blogging world is smaller.

 

The press conference :

• Miss Amelia Tan, as the organizer (Horizon Communications) first gave a welcoming speech as well as “scaring” the selected bloggers on the upcoming  things and adventures we will be looking at.
• Miss Dian Azura, the Grand Prize winner of MSS 2010 then gave her own version of welcome, encouragements, support and advices on how to not only compete fairly but also to enjoy the tour thoroughly because the journey in MSS is already a winning experience for us all.
• YB Elizabeth Wong, EXCO for Tourism, Environment & Consumer Affairs then graced us with an insipiring speech on how MySelangorStory has helped increase tourism in Selangor. She also acknowledged that MSS 2010 had been a success and hoped that MSS 2011 will further boost Selangor’s popularity not only within the Asia continent but also all over the world. With the help of social media – as YB herself was a former blogger – YB knows that this can be achieved with the right approach.

After the compulsory (it’s always compulsory for us bloggers) group photo, we had some refreshments and light food before setting out for Golden Palm Tree Iconic Resort & Spa at 6.30pm where we will be staying for the night and the next. Our journey continues…
